The FVS Spring Conference has become over the years, a much needed and very welcome opportunity for fish health professionals to come together and review important topics in a convivial and professional atmosphere of knowledge share.
The two-day 2018 FVS conference, held just outside Edinburgh, offered valuable insights into ways to improve fish and welfare for fish in aquaculture, ornamental and lab animal settings. The structure of the programme offered coverage of all these areas (the 2018 programme can be found here) and it attracted a full house.
The new FVS President, Matthijs Metselaar, reiterated during the Conference that “One of FVS’s key objectives is to encourage the brightest and best veterinarian students to enter our young industry and we are therefore continue sponsoring students to come and present to the Conference.” This year’s event was coordinated with the Laboratory Animal Science Association (LASA); their Conference held the following day in the same venue.
3 National Veterinary officers, Kristina Landsverk, Chief Veterinary Officer of the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, Birna Mørkøre, Chief Veterinary Officer, Food and Veterinary Authority Faroes and Scotland’s chief vet, Sheila Voas, attended the conference this year marking the high profile nature of the event.
